Helping Out in Vancouver part 2

I know it has been awhile since I have posted anything. I have been doing some research into getting together a group of Atheists, Humanists and generally anyone who wants to fly under our lovely banner... do we have one? in doing some volunteer work to help the homeless in Vancouver.

I wasn't expecting a great amount of organization in how resources were dealt out. It is fractured to say the least. I am not overly surprised. But, I wanted to work with the resources that already existed and the structure that was in place. Still, there are a large number of religious groups that are set up, but I have found some non-religious groups.

I was looking at a couple of the food banks in the area, but most of those are aimed primarily at low-income families. Those using the bank need government issued ID with a current address... that doesn't help those with no address.

Eventually, I found an organization that actually listed a large number of local resources, so I thought at least they would know where I should go, if they couldn't use the help of us atheists already. So, at this time I have sent them an e-mail and we will see what happens.
