Cats and Dogs Living Together!

Okay, that isn't exactly an accurate portrayal of what I have just learned. I was listening to the most recent episode of Radio Freethinker and one of the hosts mentioned something rather bizarre. She said that there were people who were marrying fictional characters. So, I had to see if this comment had any basis in reality. Well, I found at least two cases that might have inspired this comment and both are rather shocking.

In reverse chronological order: In 2010 a Korean man, who loves his cute girlfriend very much married her in a ceremony, priest and all. His girlfriend, happens to be a pillow.

'He is completely obsessed with this pillow and takes it everywhere,' said one friend.

'They go out to the park or the funfair where it will go on all the rides with him. Then when he goes out to eat he takes it with him and it gets its own seat and its own meal,'

Now, we shall step that one up by one notch. Back in 2009, a Japanese man, married his virtual girlfriend. By virtual, I mean a character in an interactive dating sim. To do this, he had to go to Guam, where I guess you can marry anything. He even had a priest conduct the ceremony and streamed it online.

Now, I am a nerd, by no stretch of the imagination am I not, however, I am still surprised by these ones. I can understand obsession over a character, and even joking about doing such a thing, but, I am still surprised that it has happened. I guess it makes them happy...
